The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Head of the Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, met with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi.

They discussed the International Agency’s support for Iraq in the peaceful use of atomic energy in many scientific fields that serve the sustainable development environment and its goals.

The Minister of Education stressed the importance of cooperation with the International Agency in the field of fragmentation and production of radioactive isotopes, enabling Iraq to combat cancer, supporting the agricultural sector, combating insects, desalinating well water for agricultural purposes, using clean energy in producing electricity, confronting climate change, and strengthening knowledge programs in nuclear specializations in universities and academic institutions.

For his part, Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi expressed his desire to visit Iraq and support the International Agency for it in the field of peaceful use of energy.
